The Scoop Newsletter - May 2012

May 7th, 2012

I am writing this as
it pours down outside, but spirits remain high, and we have high-hopes for a
long, hot, balmy summer.

If you haven’t already
done so (and you have the room), now is the perfect time to order that freezer
and get scooping! There are great profit margins to be made scooping
Churchfields Farmhouse Ice Cream, and we can help you get set up with a freezer
full of free stock. Just give us a shout if you’re interested and we’ll talk you
through the deal.

If you know anyone
getting married this summer, why not suggest our vintage ice-cream trike for
their reception? I recently attended my first wedding (serving ice cream that
is) near Ludlow,
and our trike made an elegant addition to an absolutely stunning occasion. Our
“Treats Table” went down a treat (!) with the kids, and our Baileys Ice Cream
was a big hit with the adults. What’s not to love?

We look forward to
seeing you out and about throughout the summer. Enjoy the Jubilee festivities
and the build up to the Olympics, and don’t forget to pop in and say hello if
you are ever near the farm.

Thatched Roofs are So Last Century Darling

May 7th, 2012

We are moving with the times here at Churchfields, and doing our bit for the environment at the same time.

We have installed a number of photovoltaic solar panels on top of farm buildings to help offset the energy we use on the farm.

You will appreciate that keeping ice cream frozen uses a lot of electricity, so any savings we can make through the photovoltaic panels will not only reduce our carbon footprint, but also save us money.

A fantastic win-win situation.

Caroline Delivers Every Time

May 7th, 2012

We are really pleased to introduce Caroline Done, who has recently joined us to help with deliveries. Caroline has spent the past eight years in New Zealand, and is now back on home soil getting used to the delights of satellite navigation!!

We look forward to hearing Caroline’s tales as she travels across the countryside with our little van. If you have the time, do stop for a chat, and pass on any comments you have about our ice cream. We love to hear how it’s all going.

P-P-P-P-Popping Penguins!

May 7th, 2012

To celebrate the opening of Penguin Bay and Dudley Zoological Gardens’ (DZG) 75th Anniversary, we are pleased to be supplying Dudley Zoo with a one-off Popping Penguin Ice Cream.

Penguin Bay will double the land area available to the 70-plus penguins – one of Europe’s largest colonies of Humboldts – and allow visitors to get closer to the highly endangered birds.

Tarmac pathways and garden areas incorporated into the site have been replaced with sand and rocks, creating an authentic landscape for the penguins, and decking areas and glass viewing platforms currently under construction by DZG maintenance staff will afford close range views of the pool.

The new feature will launch on Sunday, May 6 – the date the zoo opened to the public in 1937 – as part of the attractions 75th anniversary celebrations.

Our latest flavours, developed to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee and the London Olympics are now available in120ml, 500ml and 4 litre tubs, as well as 4.5 litre napolis.

Going For Gold (luxurious caramel ice cream, with nuggets of honeycomb and fudge) is a winning combination, and is guaranteed to be a big hit all year long. Our pregnant sister can’t get enough of it! It is proving so popular that we are already considering keeping it on, as a permanent fixture at Churchfields.

God Save The Cream! (clotted cream ice cream), is the perfect accompaniment to any Jubilee celebration. Why not grab yourself a couple of cases of our little 120ml tubs to hand round at your village picnic or street party? Yummo!
